ADVISORY OPINION
We follow new developments in labour and employment practice and their impact on our stakeholders. To this end, we provide guidance for dealing with such developments in our expert advisory opinions tailored to specific requests and needs. Our opinions have received wide acclaim for their clarity, depth, relevance and mastery of the law and business needs.
ELLAN was at the frontline of providing timely advice during the uncertainties caused by the coronavirus pandemic and has published an advisory opinion that addressed the most frequently asked questions regarding the impact of COVID-19 on employment relationships.
The advisory opinion has received wide acclaim and has helped many stakeholders navigate these turbulent times, as the culture of work in Nigeria tilts towards digital and remote working.
PRO BONO LEGAL SERVICES
We have a wide range of experience in dispute resolution and alternative dispute resolution strategies for resolving employment and labour disputes.
Our expertise in this area enables our Public Interest Advocacy team to provide pro bono advice and representation to indigent persons on employment-related queries and disputes.
We have a partnership with the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender, the National Industrial Court ADR Centre and the Standing Committee of Mediation Advocates (SCMA) UK Nigeria Branch among other public and private bodies to further our public interest initiatives.
CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT & TRAINING
ELLAN is renowned for its bespoke monthly webinars on topical subject matters relating to employment and labour law. Our webinars, which are free and open to the general public, are anchored by experts within and outside the association, thereby enabling us to deliver high-value training on labour and employment law to a wide audience.
Some of the issues we have covered on the webinars include managing large-scale redundancies, data privacy concerns, labour issues on
mergers and acquisitions, the pension multi-fund structure, tax implications of outsourcing arrangements and requirements for conducting disciplinary proceedings.
In addition to the webinars, we also provide private training on request to executive management teams of both private and public organisations.
The ELLAN Exchange
The ELLAN Exchange, which debuted in 2017 is a unique debate style event that brings the most talented experts in labour and employment law in Nigeria to drive topical leads on contemporary but contentious issues in the country. It is a celebration of intelligence, oratory and creative thinking by the brightest and finest the profession has to offer.
